We are continuing to prepare for the
Gifted Parent Advisory Committee meeting.
We are gathering projects and preparing a presentation for parents to
see the great things we have accomplished this year.
Some of our fifth grade gifted support
students will be participating in the Math 24 tournament at the Schuylkill
Intermediate Unit. The team from the
high school invited us to help them and to get a taste of what the tournament
is all about.
Our second trip to the Schuylkill
Intermediate Unit Maker Space start this week.
The 6th grade students will be going on May 10th. The 3rd through 5th
grade students will be going on May 19th. We had a blast on our first visit exploring
3D printing with Leopoly and the zSpace, and using Makey Makey to turn everyday
objects (like bananas and marshmallows) into the controllers for playing games
and music. This visit will be working
with coding and robotics completing tasks using Sphero and OZMO.
The Gifted Parent Advisory Committee
meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 16th at 5:30 pm. Be sure to attend as we will be showcasing
some of the projects and activities students worked on this year including our
K’Nex theme park attractions. Save the
date! I am hoping to see many parents
and students at the meeting. It will be
a great way for parents to see exactly what we’re doing, wrap up the year, and
set our sights on next year!
